it's been a crafty week in the superette household. dabney brushed off the silkscreening equipment and the sewing machine and got to work on a new project. it's a prototype for a journal/book cover, inspired by, what else, ann and dabney's trip to japan last year. the japanese - being the smart, polite, conscientious folks that they are - cover all their reading material to protect it from the elements, and just perhaps curious eyes as well. so when you want to read your harlequin romance novels on the subway, but you want folks to think you're an intellectual, think about a cover for your book. or, if you are like ann and dabney, and love blank journals, but usually hate the outside design, it's like an instant fix.
dabney's been wanting to experiment with a two-color process for awhile, so she trotted down to the local hardware store and picked up two hinges and a c-clamp. once you screw the hinges onto the frame, and clamp them to the table, raising and lowering the frame repeatedly is a snap.
