germany, part 1 - the wine

our trip to germany was wonderful.  we visited castles and beer halls and ate tons of wursts and pretzels.

now, we're home - happy but jet lagged.  can i just say that blogging is a fine activity at 4:30 am?

after arrival in frankfurt, we jumped into our teeny tiny euro car and sped down the autobahn to neustadt just in time for their annual wine festival.  while most people think beer when it comes to germany, many varieties of wines come from this central area of the country.  and it turns out they love to celebrate the stuff.

during the parade, different towns show off their candidates for the wine queen.

for a 7 euro, you get a special tall glass that comes filled with your favorite local variety.
