we had chosen to move to the tower grove area for the park and the restaurants, but thanks to our friend and neighbor rebecca, we discovered that just south of our house lies an incredible art scene all along cherokee street. i had always thought of this area as antique row, and more recently as THE place to go for authentic mexican food. little did i know that amongst all the bodegas and supermercados is a whole artist community of galleries and studios. best of all, it's all a short walk from home.
I couldn't resist this print + calendar for $5 featuring some neighborhood homes.
later that night, we joined rebecca at "wall ball" and wandered among forty-five artists at work. the simultaneous silent auction benefitted the st. louis city open studio and gallery, which is an arts education program for kids in our neighborhood park.
