saved storefront
have i mentioned that someone bought this old storefront in our neighborhood that i have been obsessed with over the years? developers finally woke up and realized there was an opportunity there. they've been working diligently to create two large condo units to flip.
where there were lemons, the builders made lemonade. the original 1909 plaque fell and broke to a million pieces, so the developers had a brand new "2013" plaque custom made and installed in its place. love. (another 1909 plaque is on its western facade. so cool.)
i am anxious to see what they do with the lower level display windows which have been covered up with hideous aluminum siding for decades now. balancing privacy and honoring the building's past is always tricky. new glass and cheap corrugated plastic have been our solution for awhile now. we'll see what they do.

anders and kendall were here.
last night, while crisscrossing the country on a living room tour, these two stopped and played an intimate show in our workroom, and it sounded fabulous. anders' gruff voice was beautifully accompanied by kendall's sweet tone. it was a repeat performance for anders who played here a couple of years ago, but we really loved meeting kendall this time around. we hope next time their stop will include a home-cooked meal.
